News from Tory MP Jason Kenney

So here's the thing about Jason Kenney -- I've always found him to be a bit of a douche. But let's be honest he's not the only one who I find to be a douche and I'm not the only one who finds him to be a douche. (How's that for multiple use of the word "douche.") Now moving on.

Yesterday Kenney, who is Harper's Parliamentary Secretary, compared Hezbollah to Hitler's Nazis. At first I thought its about damn time. 24hrs (which is owned by SunTV) paraphrases his statement as follows, "the Nazi Party of the 1930s enjoyed democratic support, provided social services and propagated hatred against Jewish people -- all like Hezbollah."

So here is my question does comparing Hezbollah to the Nazis take away from the impact the Nazis had on the Jewish people and all of history? I have no doubt in Hezbollah's 'evilility' (I may have just made that word up) and there is not doubt that Mr. Kenney was correct, however, as someone who has family that are Holocaust survivors I can't shake the feeling that the Nazis are the most evil force in history and to compare any institution to them take away from their impact.

So tell me, am I denying the impact of Hezbollah or over emphasizing the impact of the Nazis? At this point I am really not sure...

respectfully, this is the kind of thinking that makes conservatives so one dimensional. it is possible to realize the extent of damage caused by hezbollah to israelis yet recognize that hitler's nazis caused atrocities on a scale the world has never seen since and hopefully never will again.
kenney's logic is simplistic and disrespectful to all those who suffered at the hands of the nazis.

And sadly, the PM shares this one dimensional way of looking at the world.

I see it differently. Leading the charge against an organization who's only objective is to wipe out Israel/Jews is a 'Lest we forget' the holocaust. Very respectful, IMO

I guess ignorance is bliss. There's been ugliness on both sides over the many years.

Israel wasn't a state. Hitler wanted to kill Jews.

Actually, Hitler was a control freak, paranoid, didn't trust anyone, reclusive and decisive.

Sound like anyone we know?

you people are so full of it, its incredible, u r so afraid to say anything truthfully, afraid of the word anti semetic, and anything jews say is the law? let me refresh ur memories, the word holocaust was not used until the early 70's, 6 million dead jews came out of nowhere in a war crimes tribunal in 1952, they now figure 250 thousand jews served the German army in the second world war, in the 1930s, the world jewish buisness cominity declared economic warfare on germany,(ence the hatred was begun by them), and worse of all, jews ran the death camps during the war, jews killing jews...in short, Hisbullah is nothing like nazis, or jews. Lets not forget who makes it a habits of kidnaping elected oficials and the population, the jews (or the converted europeans who call themselves jews) have been killing, deporting, cleansing, bombing, invading, occupying, way before Hisbullah came into been. And a reality point, natives people on the american continent numbered between 50 to 90 million people, how many are left now????they use the word holocaust for their benefit, to scare and stop any reality they are responsible for, that word does not belong to them.

Interesting statements. But I must say this of the most recent statement -- "You disgust me."

The Term Holocaust does not belong to the Jews, however in the modern understnading of the word when one mentions "The Holocaust" they are referring to the mass distruction of millions of Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Poles etc. During the period of Nazi Germany starting in 1933 and ending with the end of WWII in 1945.
If, and that's a big If the Jews "declared economic war" on Germany in the 1930's it was likely after 1933 when the Nazi's came to power and started revoking the rights of the Jews.
Jews working in concentration camps did so only for the sake of their own lives. Strong Jewish leaders/workers were given more chance of survival by working the camps - actually a very efficient tool used by the Nazis.
Also, you need to take a good look at your history of the Middle East. In short Israel has offered or accepted many proposals for the creation of Palestinian state (starting by the way in the 1920's) alongside a Jewish state, at times that Jewish state had a width of 9km at its narrowist point. In response these proposals have been shot down by the Arab leadership, who cares nothing about its people and only it's own power and wealth. And also in Response Israel has been faced with a type of violence that we in North America cannot even imagine.
As for the Natives. I agree with you that can be called a holocaust too.
Claiming the Jews caused the Holocaust is hatred. The Jews want peace, clearly you don't.
