Authoritarian Harper Dumps Tory Candidate in Toronto Centre

The treatment of my Conservative opponent Mark Warner by the Harper Conservatives is a national disgrace.
Mr Warner was the duly nominated candidate in Toronto Centre, and in that role I came to know him as a thoughtful and hardworking person whose differences with me did not prevent us from establishing a sense of mutual respect. For him to have been summarily removed speaks to a dangerous controlling and authoritarian streak that runs right through Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party.
The citizens of Toronto Centre now know that someone who speaks out on social issues has no place in the Harper Conservatives. It is truly disgraceful to see a hardworking and honest candidate treated this way.

The Conservatives had no hope in Toronto Centre, it really doesn't matter in the big picture. Why remove him?? They wanted to make sure that the real story of them removing Brent Barr as the candidate in Guelph a riding they can win and want badly gets glossed over. Harper has always wanted Gloria Kovacs for Guelph and will throw a lot of money at Guelph to win it. This is a sitting Liberal riding that should never have been open for our nomination.
Guelph is one of the most consistent bell weather ridings in the country and Harper is going to throw everything he has at it in the next election.
Guelph also likes to elect women. The conservatives seeing that will make sure a women is their candidate.
